In den späten 1980er- und frühen 1990er-Jahren war er regelmäßig in Film und Fernsehen präsent, etwa in „Biloxi Blues“ und im Liebesfilm „White Palace“. Den Karrieredurchbruch brachte ihm die Hauptrolle in der Sitcom „Flying Blind“. Später übernahm Parker zahlreiche Gast- und Nebenrollen. Besonders bekannt wurde er durch die Sitcom „Will & Grace“. Außerdem wirkte er in der Serie „Love Boat: The Next Wave“ mit. In den letzten Jahren arbeitete Parker als Schauspielcoach.
He began his acting career in the mid-1980s. His first major roles included the horror sequel Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning and an appearance in the erotic drama 9½ Weeks. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, he appeared regularly in film and television, for example in Biloxi Blues and the romantic film White Palace. His career breakthrough came with the lead role in the sitcom Flying Blind. Parker later took on numerous guest and supporting roles. He became particularly well known for the sitcom Will & Grace. He also appeared in the series Love Boat: The Next Wave. In recent years, Parker worked as an acting coach.
