Lapotaire ist den Fans der Netflix-Serie „The Crown“ als Prinzessin Alice von Battenberg, die Mutter von Prinz Philip, bekannt. Doch die Britin schrieb vor allem mit ihrer Darstellung von Edith Piaf Theatergeschichte und wurde für diese Rolle mit dem Tony Award und dem Olivier Award ausgezeichnet.
