Alexander Kluge

Er gehört zu den entscheidenden Regisseuren des Neuen Deutschen Films. Ohne sein filmpolitisches Engagement hätte es diesen nicht in dieser Form gegeben. Kluge schuf mit seinen Filmen, allen voran „Abschied von gestern“ aus dem Jahr 1966, aufregend genaue Chroniken unseres Landes. Er war außerdem Fernsehproduzent, Drehbuchautor, bildender Künstler, Philosoph und Rechtsanwalt. Als Autor gehörte er zum Kreis der „Gruppe 47“, die den Literaturbetrieb im Nachkriegsdeutschland prägte, und machte sich vor allem mit Kurzgeschichten einen Namen. Für seine Bücher und Filme erhielt Kluge unter anderem den Adolf-Grimme-Preis, den Georg-Büchner-Preis, den Heinrich-Heine-Preis sowie den Klopstock-Preis.
He is one of the key directors of the New German Cinema. Without his commitment to film policy, it would not have existed in this form. Through his films, most notably *Farewell to Yesterday* from 1966, Kluge created thrillingly accurate chronicles of our country. He was also a television producer, screenwriter, visual artist, philosopher and lawyer. As an author, he was part of the ‘Group 47’, which shaped the literary scene in post-war Germany, and made a name for himself primarily through his short stories. For his books and films, Kluge received, among others, the Adolf Grimme Prize, the Georg Büchner Prize, the Heinrich Heine Prize and the Klopstock Prize.
