Neil Sedaka

In den späten Fünfziger- und dann Sechzigerjahren war Sedaka einer der großen Stars in den USA und prägte die Prä-Beatles-Zeit der populären Musik. Hits wie »Oh! Carol«, »Calendar Girl«, »Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen« oder »Breaking Up Is Hard to Do« machten ihn zum Star. Auch mit Songs wie »Laughter in the Rain« und »Bad Blood« großen Erfolg. Er schrieb auch Lieder für andere Künstler, darunter den Pophit »Is This the Way to Amarillo?« für Tony Christie und den englischen Liedtext für den Abba-Song »Ring Ring«. In seiner langen Karriere war Sedaka fünfmal für einen Grammy nominiert, 1978 wurde er auf Hollywoods »Walk of Fame« mit einer Sternenplakette verewigt.

He also wrote songs for other artists, including the pop hit ‘Is This the Way to Amarillo?’ for Tony Christie and the English lyrics for the ABBA song ‘Ring Ring’. During his long career, Sedaka was nominated for a Grammy five times and was immortalised with a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame in 1978.
