Nedra Talley Ross, das letzte noch lebende Gründungsmitglied der Ronettes, ist im Alter von 80 Jahren verstorben. Dies teilte ihre Tochter in den sozialen Medien mit. Schon als Kind sang sie gemeinsam mit ihren Cousinen Estelle Bennett und Ronnie Spector. Die drei traten zunächst als „Ronnie and the Relatives” auf New Yorker Tanzveranstaltungen und Feiern auf. Später benannten sie sich in The Ronettes um. In den Sechzigern feierte das Trio mit Pop-Hits wie „Baby, I Love You”, „Walking in the Rain” oder „Be My Baby” große Erfolge. The Ronettes gingen sogar mit den Beatles auf Tour – als einzige Girlgroup überhaupt. 2007 wurde das Trio in die Rock and Roll Hall of Fame aufgenommen.
Nedra Talley Ross, the last surviving founding member of The Ronettes, has died at the age of 80. Her daughter announced the news on social media. Even as a child, she sang alongside her cousins Estelle Bennett and Ronnie Spector. The three initially performed as “Ronnie and the Relatives” at dance halls and parties in New York. They later changed their name to The Ronettes. In the 1960s, the trio enjoyed huge success with pop hits such as “Baby, I Love You”, “Walking in the Rain” and “Be My Baby”. The Ronettes even went on tour with the Beatles – the only girl group ever to do so. In 2007, the trio were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
